Perishables
Perishables é uma colecção de fotografias da artista Pinar Yolacan, onde a roupa que mulheres (por volta do 70 anos) envergam se transforma literalmente numa segunda pele; para cada fotografia, Pinar Yolacan concebeu um vestido da época Victoriana feito, em parte ou na totalidade, de carne animal: tripas, intestinos, testículos…
She cast over 100 women, including professional actresses and artists, and completed the project after 20 photo shoots.
The night before a shoot, she bought the meat at a butcher shop, and then washed out the stench. Referring to a photo of the woman from the casting shoot, she used fishing wire to sew together an outfit that complemented the woman’s skin tone, lined it with shower curtain, and stored the finished product in a cooler until the shoot.
